AGRI-TREND Geo Solutions welcomes Doug MacKay as new Geo-Coach

AGRI-TREND Geo Solutions is welcoming Doug Mackay as a new AGRI-TREND Geo-Coach™!

Doug grew up on his family’s mixed farm near Waskatenau, Alberta. After graduating from the University of Alberta with a B.Sc. in Agricultural Engineering (Co-op Program), he worked with Alberta Agriculture in the area of Precision Agriculture research. Doug was one of the early promoters of Precision Agriculture in the mid-1990’s, educating producers on the benefits of this emerging technology.

He spent several years in the GPS guidance industry bringing many innovations to market, including on-screen guidance, autosteering, automatic section control, mapping and field management with an award winning GPS guidance system. He has authored several papers, presentations and reference guides on the topic of Precision Agriculture.

Doug is a Professional Engineer registered with the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta (APEGGA). Doug brings to Agri-Trend a strong analytical skillset.  He has most recently been involved in the production of the VRT Technology Resource Guide for the ARECA organization in Alberta and was involved in spring 2010 VRT workshops.  The results of the resource guide and workshops were very valuable and well received.  His love for agriculture and expertise in precision agriculture is obvious and he is excited to bring his passion for technology and agriculture to Agri-Trend Geo Solutions and looks forward to providing solutions to producers and agri-businesses from his Airdrie, Alberta location.
