Agri-Trend Agrology Welcomes Matt Young, OAC as new Agri-Coach
Written by Administrator Thursday, 18 September 2008Matt has been part of the agricultural community in Ontario his entire life and is looking forward to dealing with farmers on a one-on-one basis.
He has spent the majority of his life in the Campbellford area, and have had an opportunity to get to know many of the area farmers while working on his uncle's dairy farm. "Since leaving this operation, I have had good experience in management roles on several large farms and other agri-businesses. I am passionate about primary agriculture and becoming an Independant Agronomist allows me to work directly with farmers and their businesses" says Matt.
Matt and his family currently rent a farm in the Springbrook area about 15 miles north of Belleville and plan to raise cattle and hogs, as well as grow various field crops. "I believe having practical farming experience combined with the information available through the Agri-Trend Network will allow me to make better recommendations for my clients".
Matt is in the process of finishing his Ontario Government Certifications for Nutrient Management Planning, and looks forward to helping farmers with this service. And has these closing remarks:
"Farm numbers are dropping, farm sizes are growing. Crop prices have risen, but input costs like fertilizer and fuel have also jumped significantly. There is a limit to your time and resources. With the Agri-Trend Network and myself behind you, we will put these resources where they will impact your bottom line".
