    Agri-Trend launches new Geo Company!

    Agri-Trend Geo Solutions Inc (ATGSI) has been formed to help farmers and agri-business integrate GPS, GIS, Variable Rate and other Geo technology in agriculture.

    Robert Saik, founder of The Agri-Trend Group of Companies explains this latest addition to the Agri-Trend Group of Companies saying, “We have been developing our Precision Farming products for over 5 years. As we worked through our Precision Management Process™, it became evident that a new organization, focused on Geo support was the way to go. It all came together when Warren Bills agreed to head the new company.”

    Headed by President Warren Bills and based in Calgary, Agri-Trend Geo Solutions Inc is a business collaboration between Agri-Trend Inc and GeoFarm Solutions Inc with the vision being “All things GEO”.
    The aim is to deploy a Network of Geo-Coaches™ to offer technical Geo-support to the other Agri-Trend Companies as well as Agri-Retailers (crop input and equipment retailers), Agri-Industry (fertilizer, crop protection and seed companies) and farmers who are looking to integrate GPS, VRT and/or GIS strategies into their operations.

    The formation of Agri-Trend Geo Solutions Inc. will result in several initiatives, including
    1. More feet on the ground through the expansion of The Geo-Coach™ Network.
    2. 3 levels of imagery options for high resolution Real Shot™ aerial imagery and high resolution satellite imagery from RapidEye as well as low resolution 30 M satellite imagery.
    3. Drainage management program and added Soil Audit™ services that include VERIS technology to help farmers determine yield limiting factors in field..
    4. Better Online Tools through the enhancement of geospatial capabilities within The Agri-Data Solution™ online data management platform.

    While Geo-Coaches™ do not make recommendations; they will team up with professional agronomists to enhance the integration of technology with agronomics. “It seems cliche, but there isn’t a silver bullet in agriculture”, explains Warren Bills. “Precision agriculture and variable rate technologies do pay, but they need to be designed around a sound agronomic strategy and with a vision that matches yours. This is what we do.”

    AGRI-TREND is Recognized Among the 2010 REBRAND 100 Global Awards Winners

    March 05, 2010 — The AGRI-TREND Group of Companies was named one of the world’s most effective rebrands in the sixth annual REBRAND 100® Global Awards. REBRAND 100 is the highest recognition for excellence in brand repositioning, and is the first and only global, juried program of its kind. RFX Brand + Communications’ rebrand of AGRI-TREND encompasses a strategic reorganization of the various brands, an overall simplification, and development of a strategic roadmap to accommodate future growth.

Jurors were unaware of the brand strategist’s name and size when reviewing the projects. Consequently, a small consulting firm had as much opportunity to be selected as did global organizations.

    Over 36 industries and 29 countries are represented among the 2010 winners. They ranged from the City of Pula’s Office of Tourism in Croatia to Nike, and Walmart, the worlds largest retailer. Some of the competing brand consultants included Interbrand, Radley Yeldar, Lippincott, and Siegel+Gale, in addition to in-house teams, small agencies, and representatives of multinational corporations. The rebrand could have been an enterprise-wide effort, a change in a single brand component, or a brand extension.

    The 2010 panel of 10 included Friederike Biegel, Director of Strategy, Peter Schmidt Group in Germany; Founder, Director & Principal Designer; Ashwini Deshpande of India-based Elephant Strategy + Design; Uche Nworah, Channel Brand Manger for Glo; Andrew Gorman, Creative Director, Radley Yeldar, and Kit Hinrichs, former Pentagram Partner and founder Studio-Hinrichs.

    Steve Cowen Awarded Agri-Trend Scholarship

    The Agri-Trend Group of Companiesis pleased to announce that Steve Cowan (AB ‘09) is the first recipient of the Agri-Trend Scholarship. The Agri-Trend Scholarship was created by FarmHouse Alberta alumni in the Agri-Trend network to promote leadership, growth, and entrepreneurial spirit among the active members of the Alberta Chapter of FarmHouse Fraternity.     U.S. firm buys stake in Alberta’s top carbon offset company - Edmonton Journal

    EDMONTON — Element Markets of Houston has taken an equity stake in Agri-Trend Aggregation Inc., Alberta’s leading aggregator of agriculture carbon offsets.

    Robert Saik, Agri-Trend CEO, said the move will expand his Red Deer-based firm’s capacity to help farmers implement greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction and removal technologies in Alberta, Saskatchewan and other provinces.
    “As this market unfolds, we value the role Element Markets will play in expanding our business across Canada and into the U.S.,” Saik said in a statement.

    Firms such as Agri-Trend Aggregation work with farmers using a tillage protocol that documents carbon sequestration in soils through advanced farm management practices. Customers purchasing carbon offsets from Agri-Trend include fertilizer, oil and gas, chemical and cement firms.

    Element Markets takes stake in Canadian firm - Houston Business Journal

    Renewable energy company Element Markets LLC has made an investment in Agri-Trend Aggregation Inc., a Canadian-based carbon offset company with a focus on the agriculture market.

    Houston’s Element Markets did not disclose the amount of its funding but said the deal expands its presence in Canada.
    Angela Schwarz, president and chief operating officer of Element Markets, said agriculture-based carbon credits are a strategic growth segment for the company.

    “…We expect them to play an increasing role in carbon trading in the United States and Canada,” she noted in a statement.
    Agri-Trend says it will use the infusion to expand its operations throughout Alberta, Saskatchewan and other provinces in Canada. The company is a unit of Agri-Trend Agrology.

    Founded in 2005 as a credit firm dealing in environmental commodities such as greenhouse gas, renewable energy and emissions credits, Element Markets has since transformed into more of a developer.

    In early 2009, Element Markets completed the largest solar installation in a U.S. shopping mall – at The Shops at Mission Viejo, for Indianapolis-based Simon Property Group Inc., the nation’s largest owner and developer of high-end retail real estate.
